The Beginning of a Lifelong Mission
S.S.G. Hospital, Baroda · Mayo Hospital · Apollo Hospital, Chennai
Dr. Jain’s journey to becoming a renowned heart surgeon began early. During his general surgery residency at S.S.G. Hospital in 1992, he developed a cardiac surgery program — and while pursuing his D.N.B. from Apollo Hospital, Chennai, he established a cardiac department at Mayo Hospital in Baroda, where he served as Consultant Cardiovascular & Thoracic Surgeon.

Building the Foundation of Cardiac Care in Gujarat
Institute of Cardiology & Research, Civil Hospital, Ahmedabad · Asst. Professor
Joining the Institute of Cardiology (now U.N. Mehta Institute) as an Assistant Professor, Dr. Jain faced a primitive setup, limited infrastructure and a shortage of skilled doctors and staff. His vision remained clear: heart care for the people of Gujarat, at their doorstep. Through tireless effort, collaboration with the government, and training of doctors and staff, he uplifted the setup, improved infrastructure and successfully performed heart surgeries — laying the foundation for a thriving cardiac care program in Gujarat and making quality heart care accessible to thousands.

Pioneering Team-Based Cardiac Care
Heartcare Associates · Rajasthan Hospital, Ahmedabad
At a time when solo practice was the norm, Dr. Jain assembled a multidisciplinary team of cardiac surgeons, anaesthetists, perfusionists, nurses and medical officers — Heartcare Associates. In 1997, this team established the first fully operational private-sector heart surgery department in Gujarat, MP and Rajasthan, at Rajasthan Hospital. Within three years the team performed hundreds of bypass, valve and complex heart surgeries — at fees the middle class could afford, when Mumbai and Chennai charged exorbitantly. He demystified bypass surgery across three states, saving patients who otherwise could never travel for care.

Shaping the Future of Healthcare
Sterling Hospital, Ahmedabad · Founder & Director, CVTS Department
His dream was bigger than heart care alone — the best healthcare for all specialties under one roof. In 2001, he established Sterling Hospital with partners in Ahmedabad: a 250-bed hospital, the first private multispecialty setup of its scale in Gujarat.
Sterling Hospital was inaugurated by our beloved and honourable Prime Minister Shree Narendrabhai Modi — then Chief Minister of Gujarat.

Setting New Benchmarks for Advanced Cardiac Surgery
SAL Hospital & Medical Institute, Ahmedabad · Head, CVTS Department
Over a 15-year tenure at SAL, Dr. Jain pioneered and mastered the full spectrum of complex cardiac surgery — LIMA and BIMA bypass grafting, mitral valve repair, Ischemic Mitral Valve Repair, Surgical Ventricular Restoration and redo bypass surgery. His team became renowned for accepting high-risk patients with low ejection fractions whom many surgeons refused — and sending them home, achieving a 98% success rate. In this period he also established Heart Care Research LLP, which has since led numerous national and international drug and device trials.
