Three Decades of Giving Hearts a Second Chance
In 1993, at a time when Gujarat and its neighbouring states lacked the infrastructure for cardiac surgery, Dr. Anil R. Jain laid the foundation of modern heart care in the region. Over the past 32 years, he and his team have performed over 50,000+ heart surgeries with a success rate of 98% — saving countless lives and offering hope to patients who had no local access to specialised care.
Dr. Jain introduced Gujarat to bilateral internal mammary artery grafting in bypass surgery and pioneered surgical alternatives to heart transplant — SVR and Ischemic Mitral Valve Repair — significantly improving outcomes for heart failure patients. He has led over 50 international drug and device trials, including work on next-generation technologies like the Foldax TRIA™ polymer valve, Dafodil™ bioprosthetic valve, and advanced lipid-lowering therapies such as Inclisiran and Evolocumab.
He has built and established cardiac programs at premier hospitals including Sterling Hospital, SAL Hospital, Apollo, and EPIC Hospital — which today stands as a 280-bed NABH-accredited referral centre known for its cardiac, cancer, neuro and critical care units.
Beyond surgery and research, Dr. Jain has served the community by consulting over 1 lakh heart patients through 250+ free diagnostic camps across Gujarat, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, and delivering 100+ heart health awareness talks. During the COVID-19 pandemic, under his leadership, EPIC Hospital remained a lifeline for cardiac patients while dedicating 50+ ICU beds to COVID care.
